How to Start to Live a More Supernatural Life
Have you ever thought about how to start living a more supernatural life? There are a couple of ways in which you can move from merely believing to living a more supernatural life. You need to believe that there is more to life than what you have been blessed with. It does not matter how old you are or how plenty of good deeds you’ve done. It does not matter how much money you have. It does not matter how involved in church you are or how spiritual you are.
No matter how much you are blessed, you are not exempt from facing the challenges of everyday life. Challenges are part and parcel of living in this world. Often, we receive them whether we are happy or sad, whether we are thinking about other people or sitting alone and waiting for God to move.
Whatever we face in our daily lives, let’s be determined not to let it break us or make us depressed. Let’s not become civilizations of drudgery. Let’s believe for a change that our afflictions are temporary. If they last long enough, they can teach us a lot about ourselves. Let’s remember these are only temporary challenges if we allow them to consume us. They are not reasons to believe in God.
We need to realize that when we are blessed, it is only for a season, and then it is over. No matter how many miracles God works in our lives, He only allows it for a season. He wants us to prepare for the next life during this season.
So many Christians are discouraged because they seem to go through all the troubles of this world, and yet they have not accomplished their goals. When we become a little self-absorbed, we seem to always be in one kind of trouble or another. We do not stand up straight. We become a kind of goat. We stroll among people thinking that this life is the only life that we have. It is sad.
When we start to believe that this life is our only life, we start to struggle. We think that, no matter how successful we are in this life, surely that will never last. Well, it does not last. Take a look at the successful people who have come into our lives. None of them think that they will live forever. None of them anticipate that their lives will end.
It is when we believe that this life is the only life that we have that we become corrupt. We become forever dissatisfied with what this life is. Then, and only then, do we lose our faith in God?
Such should be the “inter” of our Christian walk, that we forget our faith in God, that we stop striving for the promises that God is to us. It is the hardest thing for a human being to achieve in this life. And such a goal should not be so hard for a believer. After all, we have the “gift of God” upon us.
Take a look at the next few verses. If you are struggling with a specific desire for riches, don’t formulas work? Don’t look at your previous life. If you have been living in immorality, don’t look at your present life.
1 Timothy 6:6-11 (New King James Version)
Now, godliness with contentment is a great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, we shall be content with these. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.
Pursuing the things of the world is a misguided premise for the advancement of your faith; it is a misguided process to govern your life or the lives of the people with whom you are responsible, and it is definitely a misguided approach to see the fruit that you produce.
Be everything that God has intended for you to be in Him, and be what He has destined you to be in the world. Ponder the words of James 1:22-25 each time you’re tempted. Keep your mind on God and what He wants you to be in the world. Treat people better, no matter what the situation.
